Non-Operative Treatment Options

NOSS offers the most comprehensive range of non-operative treatment options available anywhere, and offers them all in their unique, "one-stop", comprehensive care facility. The NOSS team includes board certified, highly skilled experts in chiropractic medicine, electrodiagnostic medicine, physical therapy, and aquatic therapy.

Chiropractic Medicine: Chiropractic medicine is a healthcare discipline that relies primarily on the physical manipulation of the spine, joints, and soft tissue. Treatment also often includes exercise and physical conditioning.

Electrodiagnostic Medicine: Electrodiagnostic medicine is a medical specialty that uses responses to electrical stimulation to diagnose, evaluate, and treat muscular, neuromuscular, and conditions affecting the nervous system.

Physical Therapy: Physical therapy is a form of rehabilitative medicine relying on specially designed exercises and equipment to help patients improve strength, recover from injury, and restore musculoskeletal health. The NOSS/REACT Physical Therapy facility is home to a wide range of traditional and specialized fitness equipment, from treadmills and elliptical machines to free weights and stationary bikes.

Aquatic Therapy: A warm water fitness and rehabilitation pool is one of the many unique offerings at the NOSS/REACT Physical Therapy center. Aquatic therapy is physical therapy that allows the physical properties of water, such as buoyancy, to assist the patient in healing and to improve their ability to perform therapeutic exercise. Buoyancy helps support the weight of the patient, thereby reducing weight bearing and joint stress.

Spinal Injection Therapy: Spinal injection therapy begins with a careful analysis of a patient's pain with a focus on the point of origin. Once we identify where a pain originates, we can impact it at the source. That is, if pain originates in a nerve, we can selectively inject medication to block that sensory nerve, the pain receptors, and the pain pathways, thereby alleviating pain.

Psychotherapy: Most patients can benefit from a psychological pain evaluation, and in some cases, therapy with a pain psychologist. Pain psychologists can help patients adopt strategies for dealing with both chronic and acute pain. They can also help patients define the true nature of pain, and differentiate actual pain from anticipation or emotional responses to the idea of pain.
