Dr. Watson is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon with sub-specialty fellowship training in sports medicine. His clinical interests include advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, ankle and elbow, as well as general orthopaedic care. Dr. Watson uses minimally-invasive techniques to repair complex rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability problems, tennis elbow, and knee ligament (ACL/PCL), meniscus and articular cartilage injuries. He has experience in joint resurfacing solutions for arthritis of the shoulder and knee, and provides both operative and non-operative fracture care.
A skilled surgical technician, Dr. Watson takes pride in his broad training as an orthopaedic physician. That training allows him to offer patients a comprehensive range of care options that extend well beyond surgery. In fact, Dr. Watson believes that non-surgical interventions are the mainstay of care for most orthopaedic conditions. Dr. Watson works closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans, and to determine the most appropriate course of treatment for each patient, their condition, and their lifestyle. He considers himself one member of a care-giving team that includes the patient, their family, their primary physician, and other specialists involved in each case. Dr. Watson’s goal for each patient is to return them to optimum function so that they may resume the activities they most enjoy.
Dr. Watson was educated at Syracuse University and the University of Massachusetts. He continued his medical training at the University of Connecticut, and at the Boston University Medical Center, Boston, MA. Dr. Watson serves as Medical Director for NOSS’s physical therapy services, and team physician for a local university. He is on staff at Waterbury and St. Mary’s Hospitals as well as the Hospital of Central Connecticut, Southington.
